    raw Head cab staining ?

Stain is just a coloring, you will still need a top coat to protect the finish, polyurethane is the most common, available as a gloss, semi-gloss, or satin finish, and requires fine sanding (I use 0000 steel wool) between coats. I recommend you go and research wood finishing and furniture...

    Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Roadster

Do you get sound from the speakers if you hard bypass the FX loop? I’m not talking about foot switching the loop off, I’m talking about the hard bypass switch on the back of the amp. Hard bypass will remove V5 from the circuit. I also recommend checking the cathode follower tubes (V3 & V5) and...

Setting for dual rectifier fx loop

Welcome to the forum. Loop on means just that, the FX Loop is always on regardless of amp channel. CH1 has the FX Loop on for CH1 only. The FX Loop will be off in the other channels. CH2 works the same as above, but the FX Loop is on on for CH2 CH3 follows above logic. FTSW means the FX...

Dual Rectifier Rev G drops volume after a while

What tubes are you using in the preamp, specifically V3? Are they Mesa branded? JJ’s? Tung-Sol reissue? Mullard reissue? Russian tubes, especially New Sensor Corp brands (Sovtek, Electro-Harmonix, Mullard, Tung-Sol) can’t handle the voltages in the cathode follower (V3) and can cause volume...

    Question about impedance matching

If you put the cabs in series you’ll have a 12 ohm load that you can safely run from the 8 ohm tap. You can easily build a series box with three jacks and a pedal enclosure. Dom

Randall Smith and Mesa Boogie Parting Ways??

The whole ‘Randall was fired’ statement is nothing but click bait, and quite disrespectful IMO. The reason Mesa was sold is so Randall could retire. It’s time for him to enjoy the fruits of his labor and I wish him well. Dom

RUMOR: Randall Smith Fired/Retired from Mesa

It’s all hearsay until we hear it from the man himself or Gibson. Randall Smith himself said he planned to retire, timing would be about right. The man is 80, time for him to relax and enjoy life without the stress of running a company. Dom

    Question about impedance matching

The 4 ohm jacks are both connected to the 4 ohm tap on the output transformer, and they are primarily used to connect two 8 ohm cabinets in parallel which is a 4 ohm load. If you connect two 4 ohm cabs the amp will be seeing a 2 ohm load, too low for the output transformer. Dom
