    smooth old EVH tone

    Preamp distortion sounds VERY different than poweramp distortion... That is the entire reason for hotplates, so you can crank the master volume, it gets you a warmer, punchier, fatter distortion Why would they make low wattage amps if preamp gain sounded just as good as a real cranked amp?

    I'm just going to assume you care more about dirty settings, dialing in a good clean tone with a LS is not diffucult at all... These are my channel 2 settings and I could not be happier Drive Engaged, Thick setting Drive - 9 o clock Gain - 12 o clock Treble - 2 o clock Middle - 2 o clock Bass...

    Friend thinks Digitech Death Metal is better than Dual Rec

    Playing devils advocate... When it comes to death metal, it becomes so saturated that it is tough to tell the difference between a multi thousand dollar boogie and a cheap modeling amp... While I have no doubt that the Recto does sound better, I doubt I could tell a big difference at first.

    How much gain is the LSC capable of?

    I have a Speical, so YMMV but I have found the people that need a pedal to get heavy tones out of a lonestar are not cranking the master and output... The preamp does not have a lot of gain, however, when the poweramp starts to break up, more...and more.....and MORE I can do Van Halen, GnR and...
