    Bad things to my Lonestar....HELP!

I took the Lonestar to my amp guy, and it turned out that the rectifier diodes were indeed the culprit. However, he checked my OLD tubes, and one of them was shorted, which probably caused the first fuse to blow, and which eventually caused the screen resistor to crack, which in turn caused my...

    Bad things to my Lonestar....HELP!

Charles, Thanks so much for the reassurance!! I will be sure to replace all 4. However, since the amp is blowing the fuse even without the tubes in it, does that sound like a rectifier or transformer problem to you?

    Bad things to my Lonestar....HELP!

OK...latest news, the 470 ohm screen resistor on the outer left tube is clearly cracked in half. I ohmed it out, and sure enough, 0 ohms. It seems like an easy resistor to replace, but I want to make sure there is not another component that is damaged. Why would this resistor crack?? Bad tube???

    Bad things to my Lonestar....HELP!

Guys, I blew a few fuses a couple months ago in my Lonestar classic. I retubed everything (with JJs) and it seemed to work fine for another two months. Early this week, I turned the amp on and it just died. The fuse was blown with excessive 'splatter'. (Earlier when the fuse blew, it was...

Lonestar Reverb -- External Rack Question

Ham, Maybe it'd be best if i took an Oscope home and see how the level compares going INTO the reverb as compared to the SEND of FX loop. That'd prob be the only way to truly quantify it right?? jjboogie....nothing, i love it...but it doesn't do modulated cavernous warble trails....hehehe ;)

Lonestar Reverb -- External Rack Question

The FX Loop is also 'tube driven'. If you look at the schematic, the Reverb circuit is basically an FX loop with an extra transformer in it. But the reverb circuit is designed to take a 'taste' of your tone, process it, and mix it back in. Anyways, the reason I want this unit in the Reverb...

Lonestar Reverb -- External Rack Question

Hey all, I have a Yamaha Rev500 reverb rack unit. I was wondering if it would be safe to insert that in place of the spring tank for my Lonestar classic. I'd rather keep it out of the FX loop for reasons that are long and rambling. The Rev500 has 1/4" inputs and outputs which I'd have to adapt...
