    Cleaning up the Roadster today.

It’s been a long time since I had STR-440’s in my Roadster for comparison, but I think they felt a bit brittle compared to the JJ’s. IMO the 440’s have that trademark ‘raspy’ character, where the JJ’s are just a bit more refined. Dom

    Mark VII combo issue

Welcome to the forum. If the amp works fine with another cabinet there is nothing wrong with the amp. Are you in the USA? Could be a bad plug on the speaker cable, easy fix under warranty. If the speaker is DOA that’s another easy fix under warranty. Dom

    Cleaning up the Roadster today.

I went back to STR440’s in my Roadster after they stopped making the SED ‘winged C” (=C=). IMO those =C= 6L6GC’s were made for Rectifiers. I’m now running JJ’s and really like them. Dom

Different rectifier tube in Mark V

Changing rectifier tubes will have an effect on how the amp feels. Yes the GZ34 has less sag than the 5U4G, but it’s still sagging a bit compared to silicon diodes. If you find the amp a bit too loose using the 5U4G but too stiff with silicon diodes, the GZ34 could be a good compromise. With...

    Fuses for TC 100

Always glad to help. I have no idea what that other person’s problem was. Then he calls me out for suggesting he go elsewhere to find his answer as not helpful, right after he posted he found his answer on another forum… exactly what I suggested. I try not to lose my faith in humanity, but...

Mark V 90 watt tube rolling

Not everyone viewing the MKV forum has the answer to your MKIV questions. I suggested you go to the section of the forum where you may have found that answer. You didn’t have any problem going to a different forum to find your answer, I don’t get your anger towards me for suggesting the exact...

Mark V 90 watt tube rolling

Wow, who pissed in your cornflakes? I was trying to be helpful, and you ask me if I’m the one with a problem….. Good luck.

Mark V 90 watt tube rolling

You would probably get a better answer if you posted this question in the MKIV section of the forum. https://boogieforum.com/forums/mark-series.27/ Dom

Post #53 confirmed EL34, but no record of who made the tube. Dom

    Fuses for TC 100

I believe the typo is from using parts of the TC-50 manual for the TC-100. The TC-50 uses a 2A fuse. Dom

Mark V 90 watt tube rolling

I want to add another Mark Series back into my stable, but I know for certain it will not be the MKV90 for me. Regardless of what I tried, tubes, speakers, boosts, etc, it’s just not my amp. I’m stuck between the JP2C & the MKVII, but that’s for another thread. Dom

    Modded triple rectifier fx loop

It could just be cross-talk between the triodes of the FX Loop driver tube, as they are in the same glass envelope. Try some other 12AX7’s in that spot. Dom

Mark V 90 watt tube rolling

I spent more time tube rolling and knob twisting than playing my MKV90. For a long time I just couldn’t let it go, I think some of that was psychological; ‘but it’s a Mark series’ guilt I carried. There is an inherent resonant mid-frequency in the high gain modes that I just don’t find pleasing...

    Fuses for TC 100

My 120V TC-100 says 4A on the amp itself. What does it say on the back of your amp next to the fuse holder? That is the proper rating. I think the 2A in the text of the manual is a typo. The picture in the manual also shows a 4A fuse. Do you have the old fuse? It will say on the end of the...

    Fuses for TC 100

What voltage does your amp use? If it’s a domestic amp (120V) it’s a standard 4 Amp 1/4” slo-blo, 250V is common. Dom

My Rectoverb-50's Red channel starting to sound a little muddy?

Most likely power tubes. How old are they and how often do you play? Power tubes do tend to go ‘dull’ with use over time, and it’s a gradual change so it goes unnoticed until it’s obvious. When I giggled and practiced regularly (about 40 or so hours a month) I changed them yearly, so at about...

    TC Quintessence issue

Still trying to figure this out. I posted over on TC’s ‘music tribe’ forum as that is where TC directs you to go. If I don’t get a reply there (or here) in a few days I’m going to reach out to the tech team at Sweetwater, I’ve only called them once (pre purchase) and they were very helpful...

    TC Quintessence issue

My G-Major’s unbalanced input impedance is 13K Ohms. The TC Quint manual is confusing. Is output impedance 100 Ohm or 1M Ohm? I don’t think 1M Ohm could be right…: For reference here are the G-Majors input specs: Dom
