I would add preamp tubes to the tone formula of speakers and cabs. They can make or break an amp.

Congrats on the new amp! I picked up a Mark III SRG head last week in mint condition. It rips! It's on it's way to Mesa for the III+\R2 mods and general service. The chassis has the hole for the fan outlet so I'm also getting a fan installed in the headshell.

There's definitely differences between the upgrades and the factory c+'s. And depending on your taste and playing style an upgrade might be a better fit. I actually prefer the upgrades. Does a c+ have to have the 105 transformer to be a true c+? What about the 60 watters, exports and coliseums...

Someone sent me a message on reverb.com about a listing I have for an upgraded c+ HRG. He's trying to tell me it's not a c+. I told him to ask Mike B. if it's a c+ since Mike's the one that puts the plus mark on the upgrades. What do you guys think?

There is no reason to not upgrade a IIc. Why settle for an inferior amp even though you're only a rhythm guitarist.Getting the upgrade will also increase the value of the amp should you ever decide to sell it to someone who can get the most potential out of it. Just my opinion.

Nice amp! I had Mike B. reduce the brightness when he did the III+/R2 mod. It makes the Presence more usable. I've got a lot of amps and the III+'s probably get used the most.

I have a Mark III+ DRG wide head with the x101. I was actually using it this past weekend. Great amp! Very close to a c+ with the III+ mod.

Have you tried a c+? I've had Mike B. upgrade 3 c's to c+'s. An upgraded c+ is one sweet sounding amp. I spend most of my time playing thru my Mark III+ DRG/105 because of R2 but if I could only have one amp it would probably be my upgraded c+ HR.

Sorry for the late reply. I just measured a combo. It's 18 3/4" wide x 10 3/4" deep x 17 3/8" high not including the rubber feet.

I'm not on Facebook. I just called Mesa customer service to see if the amp had been in for service. They said it was there in 2012 for new caps, power tube sockets and maintenance. It is really touch sensitive. It's just a fantastic amp. I haven't compared it side by side to my Coliseum yet but...
