    Mark V or Badlander

I sat down with a badlander for about 90 minutes several weeks ago and it was a nice hard rock/metal amp but I didn't see any compelling reason to go with it over, like, anything else. The EVH 5150 III is way more versatile and sounds great for like 25 to 40 per cent less money, ditto a Revv...

    Idea for a Studio .22 + mod.

Uhm... I'll let someone with better kungfu than me check your idea there, but just before you put it on the bench, have you tried putting a 5751 in V1? I'm willing to bet you won't notice a difference on your lead drive but it should give you some more clean headroom to play with.

I guess Nomads have a selling point now... "PRE-GIBSON!!!"

Mark III as a One channel amp and never look back

Yup, this. I could call it a viable two-channel amp between R1 and R2 if the Deep pull was footswitchable. One thing I have noticed though, don't be afraid to turn that mid knob right down. Several old Mesa manuals (both my Marks and my Tverb head) have sample settings with mids at 0, which is...

So, what amps do you own?

Much appreciated. I've been using my Mark III for Fender-y stuff in a project and it sounds fine but the ****** 80s fx loop is just starting to get to me, and when playing face to face starts up again Marks are just such little ******* about cabs. But end of the day I can't justify more than...

The one guitar you regret most parting with?

Epiphone Genesis from sometime in the 70s. Bought it for like $250 during my Church of Magical Japanese Junk phase, sold for the same at the end of the phase. I went through lots of weird Matsus and stuff and I'm not sure why this one was special, but it was. It just had a ****-ton of mojo ,and...

RA-1000 footswitch problem or amp problem???

Okay, so bear with me because I don't have my RA100 in front of me, it's at my buddy's rehearsal space. So the switch that *should* change from vintage lo to vintage hi doesn't work (like, you step on it and it does nothing?) First, dumb but necessary question, are you using a TRS (stereo)...

So, what amps do you own?

Killer set of amps. I'm curious, the Supersonic! That's not one you hear a lot about, good or bad. It's in very good company there. What does it do for you?

Is the "vintage" or the "modern" channel the one that's supposed to be like the SLO?

And yet, Mike Soldano is a midsize boutique maker selling five versions of the same amp to rich basement guys while you can't not see Rectos on stages and in studios all over the world. I mean, "that's how you do it" if you and your target market stopped listening to new music as of 1988... I...

Mesa Boogie Mike Bendinelli Mod ? see pics

That just means Mike B was doing the final inspections that day. It doesn't mean the amp's modded. I've had MB and RGS initials on my IIIs. There will usually be a different set of initials on inside of the chassis from an earlier inspection as well.

Anyone have a rare Mesa Boogie Rig-??

I never get sick of seeing this rig lol, it's like '**** is about to get loud'

    Mesa Rectifier Badlander

Pretty close to "pics or it didn't happen", man. Specifics?

    NAD: Mesa Badlander.

What Torpedo cab models did you like with it?

    Mesa Rectifier Badlander

Ola makes everything sound good, but that sounds real good. Especially liked the active pickup demo. Updating the gain structure a little is definitely not a bad idea, Rectos don't have quite enough usable gain for some modern styles (whether you like those styles or not isn't the question lol.)

Mark III green vs blue vs red stripe

I don't think so, but it was an unbelievably clean and completely unmodded loaded combo at a decent price so I jumped on it as more of a collector's item. My green has DIY R2 and reverb mods and is a combo to head conversion, it's definitely a player.

Mark III green vs blue vs red stripe

Necroing this thread because I have been side by siding my green and my new 'collectible' red all afternoon. I would... let's say I would challenge someone to tell the difference between these amps in even a very sparse mix. I'm using the exact same power tubes. I can't say R2 is an exactly...

Educate Me on Mark III Clean Tones!

Just for folks to try - warm slightly furry clean that still cuts pretty well in a mix. Full wattage, volume 10 not pulled, treble 5 pulled, bass 3 pulled, middle around 4, master around 2 not pulled. Presence at 2. How furry it is will depend on your pickups :) Turns into a nice crunch if you...

    Shopping for first Mesa

I run my Mark III into a Torpedo Live and then either my DAW or a Headrush FRFR12 and it works great. I have always found my mark III to be verrrry picky about cabs so having a lot of cab models on tap is really nice.

Educate Me on Mark III Clean Tones!

the GEQ is rrrrreeeeaaally powerful for getting the clean tone you want. much more subtle than on higher gain settings.
