Your approach to dialling in the 90W

I pull out the manual and browse through it every couple years or so. Always something new to find or…something that I forgot about (the more likely scenario).

My Mark Five 90 is trashed/ Resolved 2/14/22

Hope things work out for you! Your tech doesn't happen to reside in Indy, does he? Honestly, as time goes on and people retire or change jobs I often wonder long term how much expertise will remain at Mesa for the Mark V? Especially with Gibson taking over. It is really an engineering marvel...

    Mark V 25

You can safely connect two 8 ohm cabs directly into the back of the amp, just use the 4 ohm jacks. If you want to use just one 8 ohm cab, plug it into the 8 ohm jack. Not sure about hooking the cabs up in daisy chain, that depends on how the cabs are wired. Safest thing is to just plug each...

Has anyone received a new JP2C with the new Schumacher transformers?

How do you find the Mark V channels 1 and 3 compare with the JP2C?

Problems with your Mark V...it's you.

Hope that you can respond back to the board about how the JP2C compares to a nice new Mark V! The versatility of the Mark V is really something else. I've been very happy with it over the years, even if it isn't perfect in every way.

Mark V 90 watt loop volume issue.

YES, I have this issue. I never got a good answer on it in this forum in the past. When engaging the EFX loop there is a subtle increase in volume, maybe 1-3 dB? Not so much as you describe but noticeable to me for sure. When gigging I like to use the Mark footswitch to turn the loop on/off so I...

Mark V Design Defect - Channel Switching Noise

Hello. Could the channel switching noise be a manufacturing issue? My late 2011 Mark V does not have excessive pops, or pops that I notice. And therein lies part of the issue…what is ‘excessive’ or ‘loud’? It is subjective. Do you have an audio recording of the pops and how they get softer...

    Been there, done that. :)

    New Express 5:25 Owner

Welcome! This board is pretty mellow these days so the more the merrier! I can't help you much with your questions, sorry about that. But, that amp looks to in pretty awesome shape...especially based on what you described of the original condition. Congrats! Are you the DrKev over on the...

Can't get a usable lead tone out of Mark V:25

Not sure what is going on with your amp. With my Mark V:25 combo it pretty easy to volume match between channels 1 and 2 by using the Master knobs. I tend to run channel 1 clean with pretty low gain (Fat, gain at 10 to 11 o'clock). Gain on channel 2 is around 2 to 3 o'clock. And yeah, the...

    I haven't had that trouble.

    JP2C safe into Greenbacks?

If you've got 4x25W speakers you're good to go at full volume. Let 'er rip!

Your approach to dialling in the 90W

When I'm fiddling around to explore things I tend to use the channel knobs first and the EQ last, if at all. I've found that some knobs may not have much of an effect, depending on how the other knobs are set. This seems to be the "voodoo" of the Mark V, that one thing will affect another. For...

    Still playing your TC?

Still rocking my TC-50 but it tends to be the Amp to back up the Mark for me. So, I don’t gig with it but the other guitarist in my band does. :P It is a middy beast, he runs the mids and lows high in channel 3 with a fair amount of gain. Sounds really good in the mix.

    Diezel VH4 versus Mesa gear

Love it…a 10 year old post comes to life! So…where did you end up? Do you still play the Mark V? Did you go Diezel and sell everything else? I got the Mark V in 2012 and it is still my main amp.

Mark V vs. Mark V: 25/35 Bedroom Volume

    Good point!

Mark V vs. Mark V: 25/35 Bedroom Volume

Comparing the 25 to the 90 I’d say the 90 is better for bedroom volumes because of the OUTPUT master knob to tame the channel masters. Plus, I really like the 10W mode. The 25 sounds good also but the volume knob is way more sensitive at low levels. If I was to only have one bedroom amp I’d...

Using a multi-effects pedal as attenuator?

Sounds reasonable. I've put a boost pedal in the loop on the little Mark V:25 and I use that for a solo boost only. So, it would seem you could use a pedal in the loop to attenuate also. If it sounds good to you then no problem! The best type of attenuator, I think, is one that absorbs the...
