Two different amps at the same price: TC100 vs Mark VII

The VII is a wonderful amp. I’ve gigged with it several times and it is just luscious. After 3 months now I can't get enough. It is immersive. Fantastic

The Mark V90, Longest running Mark Series to date

Yeah, the V:35 combo is more expensive than the V:90 combo now.

NAD: Mesa Boogie Mark VII head. WOW

Yes, that has been noted here before. I also noticed it that the presence really does a lot more than on other amps. Presence on the VII seems to increase volume and drive also. Does anyone have any good settings they’ve found on IIB mode? That mode I haven’t been using so much.

Mark V 90W combo speaker change

o_O🤯 I’m interested in the result but I sure can’t follow the EE path getting there.

NAD: Mesa Boogie Mark VII head. WOW

I’m there with you. I like the VII better than the V but I’m not ready to sell the V just yet. Nor do I want to set it on fire in my front yard. LOL The baby V is a keeper for sure as a practice amp, just love it plugged into a cab. Baby V and the VII bring the most smiles.

SOBR vs KOB limiter title match

Intriguing. I was unawares of such vintage gear and it’s esoteric existence. I looked at the photos trying to decipher SOBR and KOB but was not successful. What do the R in SOBR and what is KOB stand for? Also, I think it is called label tape. A factory built product that made use of it is...

    Loose chassis tension screw?

Not sure if you have the 25W combo but here is a shot of that screw in a 25W combo. Looks like you have maybe 14-15 threads exposed and in this one there are about 9-10 exposed threads. There shouldn’t be any rattle at all when moving the amp. So, yeah, that screw probably needs to be aligned...

Mark V 90W combo speaker change

When you say ‘slave into the return’ do you mean that you connect SEND from one amp into the FX RETURN of another? Is there any risk to the amps when doing this?

    Amp stand for TC50 combo?

I’ve used this stand at home (haven’t played out with it, so can’t comment on gig stability with the TC-50). It seemed to fit well and I could plugnin pedal board and footswitch no problem. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/GFWGTRAMP--gator-gfw-gtr-amp-combo-amp-stand

Mark V 90W combo speaker change

Not sure if it matters but the Mark V 5 band EQ is before the FX SEND where-as the other Marks have the EQ after the FX RETURN. This could make a big difference when comparing the power amp sections of various amps if just running FX SEND of one amp into FX RETURN of another. Thanks for...

    Bought a Mark VII!

Holy heavy hardware. I have a 1x12 Thiele with the 12L and it’s a backbreaker. Since this is a Mark VII thread of sorts I’ll add that I’ve gigged with the VII combo 3x so far and it has been absolutely wonderful. It sounds so full, so aggressive but not scratchy. This is for light rock to hard...

    Mark VII Channel volume differences

Glad to hear they got it sorted. I couldn’t compare my replacement to the original because the replacement had internal shipping damage (smashed tube and such).

Mark V:25 noise and retube question

Oh, and at some point I had to put electrical tape on the bottom edge of my wah to prevent it and the patch cable from contacting the pedal board. You may need the opposite, maybe you have a loose ground wire in that wireless unit.

Mark V:25 noise and retube question

Yeah, you might be right. In my case the hum was from the DI box -> guitar piezo output -> guitar -> guitar pick-up ouput -> amp. I was surprised that the DI box going to the sound board affected the amp! You reminded me, if my wireless receiver was too close to my old pedal board power supply...

Mark V:25 noise and retube question

It sure sounds like a ground issue. Check all ground/lift switches and flip them one by one to see if the issue goes away. Flip the ground switch on the back on the amp for the cab clone. It really sounds like a ground issue somewhere. I had an issue with a DI box hooked up to the piezo out on...

MARK V 90 WATT HEAD FX LOOP DOESN'T WORK

Good call on using the manual knob on the back to troubleshoot.

MARK V 90 WATT HEAD FX LOOP DOESN'T WORK

When you activate the loop can you hear your guitar? It sounds like the FX loop is being bypassed for some reason, like a relay isn’t being flipped or something. What happens if you plug a cable into FX SEND only and leave the other end of the cable free? When you activate the loop can you...

    Bought a Mark VII!

The Presence control on the Mark VII is different than the V. It seems to do a lot more than it did on the V. Maybe some of the hot overtones you get on the JP2C SHRED are somehow baked into the Presence control on the VII. I’m just speculating as I have no real idea (never owned or played a...

    Mark VII Channel volume differences

Interesting. So the channel MASTERs are controlling two things at once? I’m not a EE guy and don’t know what double ganged means.
