front of amp or FX loop?

The way to think about it is simply if your delay in front of the amp, the delay tails will go through all the pre-amp distortion circuits. If the delay is in the loop then the tails will already be distorted (having gone through the pre-amp). So, for little short slap delays, it may not matter...

    V 35 Tube Swap

You can download the manual from here, check out Page 50. It would seem any tube you replace for Channel 2 will also affect Channel 1. Each 12AX7 has two independent halves designated A and B. The tune chart on page 50 of the pdf manual states which function each tube half has, as well as a map...

MESA combo Amp decision: TC-50 vs Rectoverb 25 vs Badlander 50 vs Mark V 35

Anyway, if I had no amp right now, but had the experience I've had with these, and I could only get just one combo amp I'd get the Mark V:35 combo because that is my favorite tone pallet. Feature-wise, like for gigging, the TC-50 would be a great choice (3 channels, reverb, SOLO, CC output...

Boogie Mark V 25 Head with no Reverb

Have you tried some testing? Are you using the footpedal? Obviously, it has a reverb on/off toggle. If the footswitch isn't plugged in then the reverb should be on and dialable. Testing: You can turn up the reverb dial on the channel you are in and tap on the reverb tank. If you hear sound...

    Anyone running a Cabinet Simulator?

I read somewhere (on this board, I think?) that the Mesa CabClone IR+ used the Two Notes IR engine. Someone had seen the Two Notes stamp on the internal electronics. Question: If true, does anyone know if the Mesa IR+ would be the Captor or Reload electronics? I really don't understand the...

Getting Good Sound Boogie Mark V 90 Watt Head

I've found for the crunch channel I actually use a lot of mids, like 1 to 3 o'clock. If I'm home alone I'll blend in a little EQ preset blend to take out some mids because it can be a little ***** with the high gain humbuckers I generally have. But in a band setting it sits very, very well in...

Anyone have a rare Mesa Boogie Rig-??

Thanks for posting that article. Could you please post the rest? What a beauty. Is the amp still fully functional? With that 12L in there it probably weighs a ton and packs a serious punch as well

    NAD Custom JP2C

Maybe you got a Mark V mode in there? I jest, I jest... Lots of posts on here over the years about the fizz or ice pick of the Mark V. I've had the V or 11 years now. We have our ups and downs but I won't ever sell it! Mostly ups, for sure!!

    Fillmore Front Panel Knobs

I know that on the Triple Crown the black phenolic knobs (with the rectangular ‘grab bar’) tend to move when putting on the cover and/or transporting. They never seem to stay put for me!

    Mark 5 25 combo 10

I really like it, especially with an extension cab. The built in 10” speaker is OK but nothing like a 2x12 cab. As far as the amp goes it is tremendous. Portable with a lot of tone options. Easily giggable, even as a combo with the cab clone built in. I’ve been very happy with it. I also own the...

Web site changed and no custom orders?

Have you tried legacy.mesaboogie.com? I was searching for signature artists the other day and couldn’t find anything on the new site. Just Gibson guitars at the bottom of the Mesa homepage. Not helpful. Anyway, did a web search and found the legacy site. Not sure how ‘active’ the legacy site is...

Hi there, Which flavor of Boogie is Jeff using in this video? I figured one of y'all would know. It is at minute mark 3:45 when they have some close ups. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2EmPPyFt6A Thanks!

My Mark Five 90 is trashed/ Resolved 2/14/22

Maybe the Mark V will grow on you a bit over time? Maybe not. When I get new gear I usually give it 2-3 months because my mind and mental biases will play tricks on me. I’m an old geezer like you (almost) and pretty set in my ways. Therefore, I’ve learned to give change time to see if it is good...

Interesting. I think I’ll clean my FX loop jacks as well, just as a precaution. Easy enough to do and can’t hurt!

    My Express 5:25 review

Let us know what you end up keeping. Nothing wrong with keeping both! I really love the Mark V:25 combo. Very easy to get around and the 10” speaker is Ok in a pinch. Plug it into a proper cab and it is a rocking beast!
