REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

^^^ that's the $64k question ... seeing that Google's AI answer claims yes, but according to this thread https://thegearforum.com/threads/can-you-do-both-el34-6l6-together.5048/ you cannot run a mix of EL34s/6L6 in Mark V's or Mark VII's. One or the other, not both. One would think that with...

REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

Ehhh... still only sort of want? My GAS isn't burning a hole in my wallet for this...now if any of you guys want to sell me your MkIII DRG (or DG, I'm not that picky) to help fund a reissue MkIIC+, I'd gladly entertain offers!

REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

Ehh, sort of want? Nice to see how they're differentiating it from the originals with its name directly on the rear plate. Tranny looks a lot like the JP2C and MKVII... I mean, the athletics is cool but I'm on the fence about how badly I need it...

The price of Mark series amps these days. thoughts?

No F'ing way would I pay $2K for a MkIII, let alone a Mk.IV. All this garbage about 'MeSa IsN'T tHe SaMe SiNcE GiBsOn BoUGhT tHeM' will die down and normalcy will return to the used amp market. I might pay $1,400 for a super-clean, recapped MkIII DRG (black dot, black stripe, no stripe) but...

The price of Mark series amps these days. thoughts?

I passed up a chance at a 60 watt MkIII blue stripe for $700 in the mid-2010s. I needed some TLC but was functional. Before COVID, MkIII's of all stripes could be had in DRG format for $1,000-1,200 depending on condition. HRG's were similarly priced, sometimes under $1,000. MarkIV's were $900 to...

REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

I guess I'll put this news here since I haven't seen it discussed... sorry it's linking to a different forum. https://sevenstring.org/threads/mesa-boogie-mark-iic-and-2ch-recto-reissue-soon.367842/ Funny how everyone gets all weird about "pre-Gibson/post-Gibson" quality but this gets rumored...

    Should I Be Concerned?

Yup, just as jpistolas mentioned, it's time for an amp tune-up. Find a local competent tech and have those caps serviced. I did my DC5 about 3 years ago (amongst a few other tweaks) and it breathed new life into the amp.

More Mark 2c+ vs Mark III vs 50 Caliber+ questions/commentary

Thank you very much for the reply -- I've been using the JP2C like everyone else (minimal mids and lows, cranked highs, gain at about 1pm to 2pm), so I'll try pulling that gain back to 11am or noon. In your mic comparison, I liked the E906 the best. I usually record two amps at the same time...

More Mark 2c+ vs Mark III vs 50 Caliber+ questions/commentary

@GJgo I've been meaning to connect with you! I've watched a multitude of your Mark-based YouTube videos and admire the sound you're getting! I myself have a JP2C with the Schumachers and wanted to ask -- at what level do you record your gain settings? And are you doing Left-Center-Right guitar...

More Mark 2c+ vs Mark III vs 50 Caliber+ questions/commentary

The price on that C+ isn't even all that insane, especially considering its in a store in Nashville. Going on 5 years ago, a non-eq 100-watt would have been what, $2500 tops? Certainly the 60-watt non-EQ ...

Will 2 PMEQ's from Master Effects get to Justice Tones?

I've heard a compressor up front is important for Justice and Black album tones, specifically a Boss like yours. I wonder if I should get one... I'm running the new Ibanez PTEQ pedal in the loop of my JP2C to tame some of the ice pic/scratchyness. It's doing its job.

Using JP2C Preamp with Simul-Class power amp?

Bandit, I'm running Yellow Mesa-branded TADs on your recommendation. I couldn't get a hold of any Greens, so settled on a quad of yellows. I'm also using SOVTEK LPS in the phase inverter. All the other preamp tubes are ANOS RCAs.

RUMOR: Randall Smith Fired/Retired from Mesa

Howdy Gents, Other forums and guitar news outlets are reporting that Randall Smith has left Mesa, with alternate stories stating that he was pushed out, fired or retired last week. Anyone have some insight into this?

Using JP2C Preamp with Simul-Class power amp?

Thanks for the great explanation and write-up, Bandit! Thorough as usual! It's a combo of GAS and tone chasing that gets me... but you've reeled me in, so to speak! I do need to give a Mark VII a try some day. I put one of those Ibanez PTEQ's in the loop of my JP2C to tame some of the high-end...

Using JP2C Preamp with Simul-Class power amp?

Greetings guys! Has anyone tried using the JP2C preamp out into a Simulclass power amp? I know the JP2C is not simulclass and people argue about that feature. Would it be something noticeable to try? It's probably not a "night-and-day" difference, and a simul-class power amp isn't cheap... but...
