Fx loop mod on mark III to have EQ

Have you actually compared running the FX send to your power amp vs. running the slave out to it? Power amps are designed to be colorless, and IMO running the FX send to a power amp thereby removing the power section from the tone sounds far inferior. To each their own, though. That said in...

using 4 x 6l6 on mesa boogie mark III simul class

"bias point 36" doesn't really mean anything in Mesa speak since different tube vendors use different test machines. If you're going to buy non-Mesa tubes and you care enough to do it right (eg. get the bias in a safe acceptable range) you'll want to get your own tester to check bias on your...

using 4 x 6l6 on mesa boogie mark III simul class

In Mark II, III and V Simul amps the Class A pair is biased hotter & you want a 6L6 pair that runs a max of around 45 mA. The easiest way to deal with this is just use mesa RED, or maybe YEL. For the Mark IVs they were biased colder in general and YEL or maybe GRN is good to go for the Class A...

Anyone have an older JP2C to compare to newer built with the Shumacker transformers?

Most likely that's the speakers. V30s from around 2005 through around 2019 are harsh & fizzy. Find you an older set from 2003 or earlier & prepare to be amazed. Plus, the 16 ohm speakers in the 2x12s are generally more top endy & cutting than the 8 ohm version which are smoother.

Anyone have an older JP2C to compare to newer built with the Shumacker transformers?

The early one came stock with 440s and the later one came stock with 443s. I did do this test just playing live. however as time went on & I got into reamping & testing using reamps where you can change literally just one thing at a time and close mic record in a controlled setup, I've come to...

Anyone have an older JP2C to compare to newer built with the Shumacker transformers?

I've had both a very early JP2C as well as a recent one with the new iron, though not at the same time. Take it with a grain of salt but I did feel like the new one had better tone. The old one was a little more squished and had pretty bad feedback under high gain. The old one- (audio quality...

Mark III Blue Stripe Combo Vintage 30?

V30s generally aren't ideal for combos. That said, Mark combos generally aren't any good for anything resembling high gain. Personally I like G12T-75 for Mark IIIs, however in a combo I'd recommend checking out a 75W Creamback (assuming metal is not what you're after). Or, a Black Shadow C90..

    Mesa Mark IV B changes

I suspect what people are hearing here is simply tolerance differences on aging amps.

    Wanted Mark Series Combo Shell

Fundamentally the only difference between blue & green is triode vs pentode (respectively) on the Class A section. Guys tend to prefer one vs the other, I've always been a pentode guy.

What stripe is your other III? The green is the only one I haven't had, always been interested since it's wired pentode. LMK which one you prefer.
